About Me
I am a Latvian French horn player and teacher. I graduated my Masters in ArtEZ University of the Arts in the Netherlands. I studied with Rene Pagen, solo horn of the Residentie Orchestra in the Hague, and Stefan Blonk, The 18th Century Orchestra. Before that I studied in Jazeps Vitols Latvia Academy of Music in Riga.
I am now a freelance musician. So far I have been lucky to be able to play with some very good orchestras and ensembles in The Netherlands, Latvia, Germany and Switzerland, such as Royal Concertgebouw orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Sinfonia Rotterdam and Camerata Bern. I have attended masterclasses with many world-known horn players, for example, Radovan Vlatkovic, Frøydis Ree Wekre, Frank Lloyd, Christian Lampert, Carsten Duffin and Will Sanders.
I am also currently teaching in three locations.
Het Muziekpakhuis in Amsterdam is a very liberal and open-minded music school. It is open to all ages and levels of playing. There I have gathered a lot of valuable experience as a teacher.
De Utrechtse MuziekSchool (DUMS) is the main music school in Utrecht. Utrecht is a vibrant, busy and modern city. DUMS shares the same qualities. I also teach French horn there.
The third location is the Fanfare Orchestra K.N.A. in Houten, nearby Utrecht. In this institution I teach not only French horn but also Trumpet and Flugelhorn.
My Mission
The reason why I started my own business is because I realised that being an orchestral musician is only a small part of being a musician. In the 21st century the world is changing at lightning speed and the modern musician has to adapt.
DIVERSITY, FLEXIBLITY, AN OPEN MIND
These are the three qualities I believe a modern musician should have! Learn a lot of different things, be flexible and open your mind to new possibilities!
